Immigration rules can make things complicated so if you are not both from the UK go check with the embassy!

Immigration types always seem to think people get married for reasons other than 'love'.

The simplest thing is to contact a local lawyer and have them advise on and help with all the paperwork. If the lawyer is also a civil celebrant he/she can then marry you.

"With all due respect I don't think involving any lawyer will not make it the "simplest thing"."

The point being that a lawyer can check all the laws for you so you don't have to. If you are unsure about any legal points this can be a way to go.

i just did it two months back. both parties non-hk.

- book an appointment with the wedding registry online

- go there at the agreed time, bring the docs they ask for (which is easy) plus 305HKD; book a time for the wedding there (earliest 2 weeks later)

- go to the office that you chose (usually cotton tee drive), bring docs and 715HKD and take 15 mins to get married legally

A friend of mine did this in HK. The wedding took place in a lawyers office in Great Eagle Centre. It took approxinmately 4 minutes. Bride, Groom, Lawyer and two witnesses. It took longer to sign the paperwork that the actual legal marriage. He found it all very easy to arrange, even with a non-HK resident wife.

Then we went out partying.
