I posted an ad in the personals and got a reply saying 'decent guys don't use the internet for dating'.


How true is this?

The guy that wrote that sentence is not decent. But at least he has the decency to tell you upfront that he is not decent.


Other guys, they might be decent or not. You need to check each person individually. Lots of work...yup!

There are a lot of decent guys who have a hard time meeting women because they are not into the whole bar hopping, bed hopping, social/party animal thing.


A lot of friends I have are well into sports, have weird work hours and are not heavy partiers, so they have used AX as a platform from which to find a date and well, its worked for them.


Case 01:

friend who is a pilot has been happily dating a psychiatrist for 2+ years, they met through AX personals


Case 02:

friend who is french and self employed has been happily partnered and now with 2 kids with a german professor, going on 8 years, they met through AX personals


Neither of these friends are douchebags, one has a job with weird working schedules and the other is not a huge fan of going out and trying to bump into loads of strangers.


Don't pay any attention to what that guy said, or do, but only in that he is referring to himself. If you deem yourself as "normal" and you are on the AX personals, then isn't it possible that there are other just like you on the AX personals? Yep, I thought so.

Stuffin Nonsense. Plenty of decent couples have met thru the net.

Consider: How do you know if the man you meet outside the internet is decent ? Why is the internet worse than a bar (for example) ?


Let me challenge the motive of whoever wrote this - Why would they write such a thing ? perhaps a man you rejected in the past saw your profile and is doing this for some kind of revenge.

What is the definition of decency? Everyone is decent and if you think romancing and sex are indecent, then everyone in this world is indecent.. just a crap to say all men on the internet dating are indecent... everyone wants to have fun and enjoy life, so what is wong in that, if she does not want it, she can always avoid such men, rather than calling them indecent.

I have two brothers whose wives died -one from cancer, the other was murdered. Both of them, after periods of grieving, decided to try to move on and find new partners for the rest of their lives, rather than spend most of their lives single. Both are using the Internet as a means to "cast a wider net" beyond the very few women they meet in a typical day (one lives well outside the city, where there just aren't many single women TO meet, and the other works a lot!). Neither of them is anything less than "decent".
