I am curious to know how are single mothers treated in China. Are their kids sentenced to be discriminated as they grow up or not?

i won't speak for China, but i will generalize about humans. anyone that discriminates against your child because you are a single mother, is not going to be someone you will include in your sphere of existence. the initial revelation may be painful, but it really speaks volumes about the "discriminator", not about you or your child, and in any case it's good to find out who's with you and who's against you.

i won't be naive and say such discrimination doesn't exist - it does - but i will tell you that the best revenge is for your child to turn out a happy and well-adjusted person, who has a healthy relationship with you.

don't waste your energy wondering who is judging your child unfairly - such people will naturally filter out and away - and don't allow the existence of such people to unecessarily limit your life. in other words, don't see shadows where there aren't any.

you'll be fine, New Jersey - from your other posts, you have gone through hell thanks to your (ex?) husband. focus on yourself and your child. may i ask if you are able to leave China and settle elsewhere?

Hi New Jersey,

I think here in hong kong is allot of discrimination on single mothers, how ever you have to be open to your kind and make him understand that no matter what kind of father does he have he have mother and father and that both of you love him even if you guys don't leave together.

I'm songle mother too and I have been descriminated some times even by my friends I know how you feel, just learn to handle things ina positive whay, smile and teach your kid to do the same.

Doncella,

I am not in China. I am interested to know about this situation in Guangzhou. I imagine people talk and although the female in question states that she is married and raises a kid on her own. Is she anyhow being discriminated?

Just curious. Thanks for the input.
