russians

I was in Penang and I met a russian girl, who was staying there for a couple of days, but who lives in Bangkok. We had a couple of total amazing days together (not in a sleazy/physical way) anyway we got on really well and I have exchanged a few text messages with her since I got back to the UK and hope to keep things going. However, there were a few nagging doubts she wouldn't tell me what she exactly did for a job other than she is out in bangkok for another year, and whilst she said she was from moscow, I saw she had a hotel employee card for a tashkent hotel as a fitness instructor.

Can anybody suggest why there would be this much secrecy?

It's ok, I have done my own research and all fears are gone.

my fears were not that she was a prostitute, i knew that she wasn't. I just feared that I was getting to know someone who wasn't all they claimed to be. I can see from reading my previous post that it looks like i thought that but I knew she wasn't. I just didn't want to think I was getting to know her and then find out it was false. Out of interest I found out she has a son, that is why she was being a bit cagey.

Yes, many many hotels in exotic locales have female Russian balalaika players tinking away in the ladies bar

i certainly have no plans to be flying over to the far east to start a relationship. That is not an issue, but a friendship is certainly on the cards. However, as a rule friendships work best if people are honest, so we just needed to get a few things straighened out. Thanks for the advice though, although well meant it does amuze me to think that someone thought this was an option :-) still i suppose some people probably would want to start a relationship, but i am too much of a realist to do this.

jigglypuff, firstly she wasn't russian she told me she was from moscow as she thought that telling me she was from tashkent wouldn't mean anything to me, to a degree i can understand that. when i tell foreign clients i am from the uk, they immediately say london? if i then tell them no and explain where i do live you can see it doesn't register. she isn't working as a fitness instructor in bk, she did that in tashkent, and the id card was for a tashkent hotel. in BK she works as a graphic designer the fitness job was taken to help pay for studies while she was back home. oh and to give a bit more back ground i'm 27 and she was 28 so it isn't a case of an aging expat trying to get a young bride etc etc. no i don't work for the british government????

well this seems to be generating some mileage, it's a public holiday in the uk this weekend, i'm off down to london for a few days, i might pick this up when i get back, or I might leave it as I'm getting bored.
