Mr Cynical, your name should be "Mr Truthful". but i think that happens in most cities on the expat scenes, more in Asia, not only in hong kong thou.
I think if girls want their partners to be faithful, they better move to somewhere called "lala land" which most of them already living there now!!

IT; I am intrigued to know exactly what you base that comment on, I don’t wish to cut you down as I'm sure some thought went into it before posting your comments. I have to say i don’t agree. Every culture has provided opportunity for men to release there sexual desires outside the bounds of a "committed" relationship. In Asia it has often been more above ground than below. The hostess clubs in Japan and Korea often don't allow men of western persuasion entry. The go go bars of Thailand ands the Philippines is just the tip of an ice burg that is the sex industry in those countries that again is largely off limits to western men. And i can tell you i am yet to meet a western man with a second wife in Shenzhen, not saying they are not out there, just yet to meet one. So having said my piece i am interested to know what makes you come to your conclusion.

IT, sorry but i think you are mistaken - perhaps what you mean is that out here in asia, cheating by western males is simply more visible (against the backdrop, as it were). is that what you mean? because your generalization is incorrect.
as for divorce rates, i doubt these are actually linked to levels/frequency/propensity of infidelity. why? in some cultures and religions, divorce is either very difficult to obtain, or is simply not allowed, so a couple is forced to stay together and endure whatever misery it is that is making them suffer...which may or may not be infidelity. i divorced my first husband but not because of infidelity. it may be easier to get divorced in western countries, but that does not necessarily indicate a higher level of infidelity in those countries. the reasons for unhappiness in any union are universal.
as for sex scenes in film? again, trust me: if it's produced by HUMANS, a film's national or racial origin has NO bearing on the number of sex scenes in it. almost every film-producing country in the world has legit AND porn sub-industries.

Mr Cynical seems to be 100% right about the Asian scene. I've been living here for more than 24 years and like him, have never met one guy who hasn't played around. And a lot of these guys play around so much it's hard to believe.
Availability has so much to do with it, and it's true that the rel real slobs can still get a pretty young girl who wouldn't even look at them at home.
But there's a top end to this market as well and there are some really smart, sexy girls around who have awesome looks, are fun and good company, great dancers and 10++ in bed... temptation that most guys find impossible to resist

IT: "obviously the "cheating" rate is much higher on people with western background." and "i am not saying hong kong/ asian men do not cheat, i am saything the rate and frequentcy is comparatively low."... please can you enlighten us all to this especially as one professor at a HK university did a study on infidelity and I forget the exact figure but the majority of HK truck drivers admitted to having second 'wives'... I will get back to you with the exact results of the research, garbled or not.

I read this post months ago when I was still living in BJ and rereading it now, well, didn't really change my point of view. Cheating happens anywhere, its because we think we should be "moral" whatever that means that we should feel guilty for "Cheating". But actually its all nature, the morality is nurture obviously this conflicts. I agree that Children in the end are the victims, so any responsible adult should decide to stop f"""ing around when they get children, sadly enough a whole load of men and some women never go beyond age 21 resulting in the already well known situation....
History teaches nothing.
