Work Visa to Dependent Visa to Permanent Resident

Can anyone help me on my dilemma?

I've held an employment visa for about five years. On my fifth year, I've renewed it and the visa was granted and valid up to the seventh year (i.e. 2012). In 2011, I changed my status to dependent (my husband is PR) with no issues. However, during this year, he is based abroad and I am with him most of the time. We still have property in Hong Kong which we currently let, and we are in HK every quarter at least. As I no longer work, I have no income to declare, even though I still file my tax returns (my returns are now linked with my husband's). I wonder whether I will be eligible by my 7th year (a few months before my Dependant visa is set to expire) to apply for Permanent Residence? What do I show them as proof when I do apply?

Does anybody have any experience on this?

No need to worry or over-think things. Just gather your tax returns (including your husband's), bank statements, mortgage documents, and apply for PR when the time comes. When you renew your dependent visa, you should put in your PR application at the same time.

You're still "ordinarily" residing in HK if your husband is just sent for work outside of HK.

Hope that helps.
