I am currently waiting for my working visa and understand that on the day I apply for a working visa, I can't be in HK. However, after I apply for the visa, I can be in HK while waiting for the work visa.
I should be travelling to HK in about 3 weeks on a tourist visa (while waiting for the working visa if it hasn't been issued beforehand). Apparently, once I get my working visa, I have to travel overseas (e.g. Macau) and come back to HK with my working visa.
Does anyone know? Can someone please confirm/ advise? Thank you so much!

i came here on a tourist visa and then looked for work (not exactly legal...) and in fact renewed my tourist visa once before I finally got my work visa...i was in HK to apply for and receive my work visa, at the immigration tower, then yes, you do have to pass through immigration to activate your visa, via Macau or Shenzhen being the easiest.
