I just moved to Hong Kong and have a dependent visa. My employer in the US wants me to continue working from HK. Tax experts in the US told me that if I make less than $90,000/year, I will only pay US taxes.
However, now that we're here, my husband's company's tax people (in HK) say that the advice I received is incorrect and for me to work for the US company, the US company must incorporate in HK and pay corporate taxes.
Any advice or recommendation of who I should talk to in HK to sort it out?

Talk to the IRD in Wanchai. Spell out your questions very carefully and ask tons of follow-up questions and I am sure you will get the answers you need. They are qutie reasonable there. Be careful how you ask as there are often grey areas that can be taken care of.
As far as I know, if you are here on a business visa and stay for more than 6 months, regardless of your source of income (domestic or foreign) you are liable for taxes to HK. Not sure this holds true for a dependant visa.
Questions: if your income is paid in the US by a US based company why would you even want to report it to the HK government?
If they are going to pay you locally, how are they going to manage that without a bank account etc here?

Thanks for the tips on the IRD. In response to your questions, I don't really want to report the income to the HK govt; seems like it may just make things unnecessarily complicated, but I don't want to get in trouble for tax evasion either. My pay would be direct deposited in our US bank account.
