Hey everyone! Need help!!

This is regarding a working visa for Hong kong. I am currently living in the UK (and born) and hold a full British passport but don't have a HK ID (my parents don't either). I found a job in Hong kong and they are happy to take me on, but the only concern is I don't have an ID and only have "short term" working experience, which make's it's a lot harder to apply for a visa these days. Should I just go ahead and apply for it and see what happens? Feeling a bit lost in this situation and i need a solution or direction on how to go about with this.... Any advice??

Thanks

As far as I know YOU do not apply at all - it is your prospective employer who has to apply for the visa. And in doing so they need to demonstrate why the job needs to be given to a non-local. That might present a problem that an employer doesn't want to deal with. Good luck.

Whether or not your visa application is successful is dependent on what exactly you will be doing. So if your "short term" experience is in a field in which there are already local candidates in HK who could fill the position, then your chances are slim.

Also, the company has to prove that they can afford to pay you.

The thing to bear in mind is that by this company hiring you, this will be beneficial to the HKG economy; in other words, they will eventual be hiring local staff.

If the company is willing to sponsor you, you have nothing to lose, so go ahead and give it a try.

yup, the company has to help you apply for the visa. you can't apply for it by yourself.
