Design representative and trade shows

I'm a new HK arrival from San Francisco CA. I've joined my husband who was hired at a HK university so I'm legal to work.

In SF I worked with deign reps selling jewelry and accessories I covered all the local trade shows dealing with fashion and apparel.

It seems to me that HK would be trade show central.

My question is do I stand a chance finding work in this field being that I speak only English.

Any pointers on where to start my research.

Thanks in advance

The language issue definitely limits your scope of employment. The trade shows I've been to here, I still don't see that many Westerners, so I can't imagine that there's much work in being an English-only rep.

Employer-wise, you should target the local offices or showrooms of foreign brands.

I would also suggest considering a switch to something within the media, the English-language publications or even television here are some of the few employers I can see hiring someone who doesn't understand any Asian language.
