Hi All,
Came to HK 6 months ago on about $44k per month of which 10k was housing allowance (plus gratuity and relocation costs and medical). Work as a Civil Engineer with 12 plus yrs experience. Been living in friends accomodation. However I need to move out and have only realised how much a half decent place is worth which is btw 15 to 20k per month.
I was not offered an expat salary and made the move based on work experience not money as I knew I could get more in other countries. However now I have realised the high accomodation cost in HK and wish to discuss with my employer an increase in my housing allowance. Any ideas how to do this?
Any advice is grateful.
