Hi,
I am in progress of preparing for my visa application. I heard from various sources saying that it is VERY LIKELY that the immigration will request for additional information from you upon receiving your application. Could someone give me some idea on what "additional information" is needed so I can have them prepared? Thanks.

Employment Visa, Dependant Visa or PR?
It is a difficult question to answer as IMD state on most of the guidelines for the different visas that "these are examples of supporting documents" rather than a defined list. It leaves it open to them to ask for anything in addition, which if you cannot give them gives them leeway to refuse a visa. I know people in their thirties who have been asked for their original school exam certificates (who still has those), people asked for original birth certificates, additional letters from employers, original bank statements, first HK lease (when applying for PR) and even proof they don't own property elsewhere in the world etc etc
This then gives them the discretion to judge your application. They make it clear that in all cases there is no "rubber stamp" it is up to you to prove your worthiness! (OT - Wish the UK would start thinking the same way!)
However all said, my experiences with IMD in Employment visas (both my own and from an employer point of view), dependant visas, and PR applications have been very positive, providing that you load them with relevant information and realise that approval is not your "right".
