Hi,

I've quit my job, have about 6 weeks notice left to serve.

Been working in HK for 5 years now and my current employment visa expires in 2013.

I want to stay in HK and start a company and have been looking into getting an investment visa.

However although i understand that i can't take employment with another firm whilst my current visa is valid HOWEVER can i start a company?

Just want to be aware of all the facts before i contact the immigration department :)

Thanks.

Why not contact the immigration department and get all the correct facts direct from them?

Paranoia that if i talk to them it will let them know i am leaving my job and kick start a process on their side that I am not ready for yet. Just wanted to know if people have any experience of this.

OP, I went through the same thing... similar period remaining on my visa. I started a business.... and got on with it...

By the time it expired, I had revenues, was interviewing staff and renting an office. They recommended not to leave HK until I got an investors visa.... They do a full due dilligence and collect lots of paperwork from you, it is quite a good exercise to go through.

Ultimately if you are creating employment in HK they will not kick you out.... so hurry.
