Hi. I'm just wondering if anyone can advise on expected salary ($HKD monthly/per annum) as an interior designer? I have recently completed a 2 year Diploma in Australia, so no real work experience in the industry as such. However I'm 39 with plenty of other work/life experience and good technical skills gained through my studies. I have had a couple of replies to job apps at entry level/assistant designer level, but both want me to indicate expected salary. Help! I have no idea what I should be asking for. Thanks in advance :)

Hi i am a interior designer, if your diploma is a well recognized one you have a better chance but normally you need a degree to get into an international firm if not saleries are low as lots of experienced locals but if you have a good folio, thats what counts the most, experience and ideas, in terms of salary that ranges from 10-20k if you have no experience. Good luck get a bit of experience and the saaries jump fast

Thanks for the info...much appreciated. The trouble is getting the experience without the experience if you know what I mean - it's a bit of a Catch-22. No one really wants to hire anyone without experience, but you need some kind of work to get the experience :) I'll keep trying though!
