Work Visa after being Fired during probation period

I had a 12 month contract with a 3 month probation period. I was told that the company will not bring me back after the 3 months. My employer said he contacted the immigration department and they said my HKID is still valid. I only have the temp HKID, which I picked up after I had been let go, and will be picking up the permanent one in 2 weeks

Does anyone know if the HKID is still valid? Also, am I still able to get public health insurance?

Your HK Id/Number is a issued once. If you lose the card, you can apply for a new one with the same HKID Number.

It's the effectivity of the visa you're concerned about. If the work visa given to you was effective for one year (which usually is in the first year of the contract), then your visa to stay in Hong Kong is up to the effectivity of that visa. However, you can only work for the company that sponsored for it. And since you've been let go, (1) you can stay in Hong Kong, (2) avail of medical services, (3) search for a new job.

Hope things work out for you.
