I've been asked to move to HK with my job, (Banking) they are sponsoring me only and paying for the move.
My GF works as a freelance fashion stylist in London and is self-employed. We are very keen to move but from doing some research it looks like she won't be able to obtain a visa to work. And would need sponsorship.
I'm wondering if you someone can advise on potential visa issues and help me with some info on the fashion industry in Hong Kong?
Is anyone able to advise me on obtaining a visa as a freelancer? Or if she goes without a visa how easy it is to find work as a Brit in her industry? Is there is much calling for her roll in HK. She really doesnt want to give up on her career here without knowing it'll work.
She doesn't want to be away for too long from England if she can't find any work or is not able to work at all.
She speaks English, French and Italian but not Mandarin. I would very much appreciate any advice if u know anyone who has been in a similar situation or who works in the fashion industry in HK?
Many thanks

The easiest way is to get married. Then you'll be able to sponsor her a dependent visa which allows her to work for anyone or be self-employed legally in HK.
Alternatively, she may start up a company and sponsor herself a business visa for being the manager of the business. There is no minimum capital required by HK immigration for this scheme, but she'll have to submit a proper business plan on how her business can benefit the HK economy (# of staff to be hired, expansion, etc.) A little tedious but if you follow the procedure and submit something that makes sense, chances are good.
The last option is to get a work visa by finding a local employer to sponsor her. This might be difficult for non-banking and non-education related industries in HK.
