English doctor wanting to move to HK

Hi,

I am currently a junior doctor working in the UK where I trained. I grew up in HK and hold permanent ID. I am really hoping to move to HK in the not too distant future to live and work.

I have read all about the different exams that you need to take but I wonder if anyone has first-hand experience of moving to HK as a doctor from England, especially as I don't speak Cantonese. I am looking also for information about what training is like in HK and whether it would be better if I trained in a speciality elsewhere and moved when I become a consultant.

Many thanks for any help provided.

neither are true outside of the public health system.

in the private market, there are many western doctors that speak, read or write Cantonese or mandarin.

as you are trained in the UK you will need to get local training and sit one or a few exams.
