Hi,

I am currently in hongkong under employment visa and i have applied depenent visa for my wife but it will take another 3-4 weeks time to process.

So for Indian passport holder there is a 14 days visa expemtion so iam thinking to call my wife on 14 days and within this period if depenent visa comes then well and good but if suppose the dependent visa is not come within this 14 days then CAN I APPLY FOR EXTENSION OF STAY WITH REASON AS WAITING FOR DEPENDENT VISA. what are the chances i will get the extension based on this?

Your question is very specific that Cara's answer is correct.

If you just look at the underlying principles, you shouldn't worry too much. What I mean is, as long as your marriage is legal and supported by legal documents (meaning you can prove to the immigration department that your's is not a sham wedding so that you can bring someone here in HK) then it is completely understandable that a husband and wife should be together. The immigration department will not prevent you from being together.

So, on the question whether it is okay to bring your wife here on a tourist visa, and then apply for extension later on while waiting for the dependent visa. You certainly can. But can anybody guarantee you that it's going to be okay, I don't think so. My guess/feel is that it should be okay. I even mentioned in another thread before that before applying for a dependent visa, a spouse can come here on tourist visa and apply for a dependent visa while already in here (and it should be okay).
