Hello,
I applied for an engineer position in Hong Kong. I have a 6 years experience, in aeronautical field, and I wonder what kind of Slary/package is correct to ask.
Do you think the following is reasonable:
- Salary 60.000 HKD
- Installation Allowance 20.000 HKD
- One flight way/back a year
- Health insurance (1.500 HKD)
- Retirement (5.000 HKD)
- Accomodation allowance (10.000 HKD)
- Others?
Do you think this proposal would be acceptable in a negociation? Too much? Not enough? Did I forgot other package items to be considered?
Please do not hesitate to comments with your feeback and experiences.

How is your "offer" compared to the offer you received? Did you receive any offer at all?

I did not received an offer yet. Maybe should be better to ask them for an offer first. Then see how i can upgrade it....
I dont have family or kids. I m just searching a job rigth npow.

Hi pedrito, how was your negotiation? Did you get the job?

No negotiation yet. No job yet. Actually, they did not call me yet. Maybe one day.. But looks like a dream:) But I saw the job offer have been reconducted online again..

Negotiation and package really depends on the status of the company and the role
What type of engineering is it? Software? Hardware? Mechanical? What type of company is it? Local? Multi-national? If it's a multinational, what market is it targeting? Local market or part of servicing a regional hub?
All this affects what the company budget will be for hiring.
Lastly, delay salary /package negotiation until you are sure the job interests you, and that you have a decent indication that they want you. At this point YOU should make your offer first. It's called ANCHORING and in a negotiation, whoever anchors first starts off on the stronger foot.
Secondly, when negotiating the package, think about things that matter more to you that could cost the company less that you would still like. For example, since it's compulsory for a company to contribute to your pension, taking a lower basic salary and higher benefits (maybe housing, car, & other allowances) means the company may pay less tax and less MPF whilst you still get benefits... This depends a lot on what your priorities are.
Package negotiations are not a zero sum game.
