Does Hong Kong Immigration and its schools favour younger teachers in NET/international school jobs? My uncle is an experienced high school English teacher and is considering moving to Hong Kong. He is over 50. Would this restrict him in any way from getting a visa or job?
Thanks

NET scheme no. International schools probably yes.

HK is a very high competitive place for qualified English teachers. If he was teaching another subject like Science or Maths or a combination of 2 subjects , I would say he may have some chance but teaching English, he will be in competition with hundreds of younger teachers. Saying that he should try, experience is an asset and I have worked with wonderful older colleagues inmy career. At my school, retirement age is 60 so legally he can work in HK.
