Hi guys,
I have a job offer in HK, and another in S. Korea. The packages are pretty much similar, however I am not sure where it'd be best? HK or South Korea?
What's your experience like in HK? Feel free to inform me of anything you think I should be aware of - in case I am not.
Thanks in advance!

I've visited Korea but not lived... but from what I can see HK is far more international and cosmopolitan... It would be my first choice.

Thanks Ed, yeah and since it's China, I guess it's worth to be located there rather than being in S. Korea.
I just had another question, not sure anyone could answer that, but do people make friends easily over there & stuff? I know odd question but since I'll be going on my own, having friends would be great.

Hey,
HK is great and you will make friends easily. I live in HK and have also been to South Korea. The general vibe in HK is much better (I think) and more western which makes it easier to adapt. Where are you from?

Thanks Grobi. I guess all that'll make a difference now is the package I'll be offered, so let's see. But yeah I too, was in favour of HK.
I am actually French but have lived in the UK for almost half of my life.

Hi Pudding-delight ,
I hope you made decision already :) .Do you have any idea about the chances for french speakers to find job in Hong Kong ?

Hi Sarhan
Do you speak French? Or are you an actual French citizen? France & HK have special arrangements that allows their citizen to work in either country with a 12 months visa, so that's a plus for us (Double check the info though).
Now, regarding the French speaking market in HK, there are jobs available but from my experience, and the info I gathered, things get tough when you're not physically in HK. You can try hk.jobsdb.com
And the usual requirements are that you need to speak good English which I guess you do. :) So you could perhaps look into English speaking jobs as well since it's a usual requirement.
Learn some Cantonese/Mandarin as well, this is a huge asset as well for every job seeker looking to work/relocate to HK/China.
Don't hesitate to ask if you have any other question, I'll do my best to reply according to my knowledge & experience.

Hi there,
Well, I guess what you could do is attend networking events, and keep contacting local recruiters.
I am not sure whether there is a plethora of French companies in HK, or not, but why would you limit yourself to these anyway? You're in an international hub, so make the most of it.
Learn the language, I noticed it seems harder to get a decent job in HK without speaking Hongkongese really. Mainland China has a lot more opportunites overall in my view. HK seems saturated to me if you ask me.
Good luck and let us know how you get on!

Hi Sarhan,
I wish you good luck with your job search.
I sent you a private message with some info you could make use of for now.
As for me, I haven't moved there yet, but will do since I am convinced it'll be a better option for me, and my fiance who's wanting to return to his original country as well.
Keep us updated on your progress.
