Dependent visa expiry /travel for work

Hi all. I am currently in HK on a dependent visa which expires on the 4th of June 2014. I need to travel for work from the 9-11 of June. My husband is applying for a new work visa through a new employer but this is not likely to come through before I leave.

Firstly - I need to apply for a china visa. Will I be denied on the fact that my visa is expired and I will be travelling after the expiry date?

Secondly - my memory is terrible. If my husband goes to extend his work visa, do you have to hand in your passport? If so, then I won't have a passport to travel on. Is this correct?

Thanks in advance.

If you apply now (before June 4), your HK visa is still valid. But you would never know how the Chinese Consulate will deal with your case. You can try using an agency to process it for you.

As for visa extension, the HK immigration does not take/keep your passport for processing. Usually a visa is pasted/stamped in the passport on the same day you apply.
