Recruiter asking for HKID to store

on their database. Is this reasonable? BTW there is no imminent job but she wants to store it on their database? Give or withhold? Frankly I think its unwarranted but want to hear from people like you who know better.

Hi, Please clarify if the recruiter wants to hold the actual ID card, a photo copy of it or just want you to fill ID # in the form they may have given you when you went to register with them?

What would be the reason to say no? What are you afraid they might do with your ID card number, or a copy of your ID card.
