Transfer of Employment Visa

I stopped working for my old employer months ago when I had to go back to the US for a family emergency and have been back and forth between the US and HK since then. I did not notify the authorities as I just read I was supposed to have, and I did not inform my old employer that I am back in HK as I do not want to work for them again..

I've just received a job offer in an almost completely different field and the company wants to transfer my visa (valid until Nov. 30th) to make it legal for me to work for them. Is there any way to know if my old employer notified the authorities when I left their company or if there are any issues with my visa at this point without going to immigration?

I've been entering and exiting the country with my HK ID card and have had no problems with that, but I am somewhat terrified that my visa will be flagged when the new Co. tries to transfer it.

Any advice here?

Thanks
