Good day Everyone!
I work in HK and my boyfriend will come here in October and wishes to stay for 6 months, he is from Canada and we would like to know what are his options with regards to short term jobs here in HK, he is IT inclined ( i can say he is a geek) and i was thinking maybe an English Language Teacher would be the best option but we are looking into other possibilities. Thanks in advance for your kind suggestions!

Assuming he does not have a work permit then he won't find anything because nobody will go through the visa sponsorship process for someone who is staying for 6 months.
This is speaking as someone who doesn't need a work permit, has 10 years of experience consulting in China and Europe and who hasn't found any job in 7 months.
As you mention, working illegally as an English tutor is one possibility but not one that anyone would recommend.
