I want to move to HK on the NET scheme and wondering if I stand a good chance at being hired. From what I gather, they appear to be selective. I am 33, BA in Political Science, Have about 5 years of working as a TEFL teacher. And I also have a online TEFL cert. Any advice or comments?

Google is your friend. A search for the HK Net Scheme bought this result at the top:

Much appreciated. I actually did google that but was hoping to hear from people who have been through the process.

It's a horrible process. It's slow and frustrating. It took 6 months from the time I applied to the time I was offered a job. I almost didn't get in because my middle name was not used on my employment records. I had to go back to all of my previous schools and have them issue new employments records with my middle name. The EB is very precise.
good luck!

You won't get employed as a high school teacher unless you are actually a qualified teacher. YOu may have a chance at Primary school though. Primary schools pay less. Don't move to Hong Kong first though. Apply from where ever you are. Yes, susiewu is correct, be prepared for a SLOW painful process where records seem to need to be resent over and over and over again. BUT don't give up as i assure you, you will want to. I did on numerous occasions because once you get here it's worth it and you rarely have to deal with the EB after you're hired. I suggest you look up the Education Departments website and you will find the information there that you will need.
Good luck!

I also agree that it is worth it. Your first step is to get everything together and apply. It is probably deadline time now for September - so you need to get your paperwork organized. Just apply and see what happens. Daveseslcafe.com helped me to get through the waiting process.
