Hi guys,
I have been told it's very difficult to get a working visa in HK if you don't have a uni degree.
I have a lot of industry experience in the mining industry but no formal qualifications, I'm a native English speaker with fairly good Chinese. I have been offered a position but I'm wondering if I'm likely to have difficulties with a working visa or not.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation before?
Thanks

Hi,
You say you have been offered a position? if so then your prospective employer MUST sponsor you, in order for you to get a working visa for Hong Kong.
If they are not sponsoring you, then you will find it very difficult to secure employment.
Hope this helps

Yes, my employer will sponsor me. But that doesn't automatically mean I will be granted a work visa, or does it?

I also do not have a uni degree, in fact I only have secondary school grades and have been sponsored twice and obtained both visas.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

To Nobby, what do you do for work? Interesting that you got sponsored twice. Are you a PR yet?

Hi Hugie
I work for a financial printer dealing with the typesetting and documentation for US IPOs and other SEC filings. The company I work for did the dual listing for Glencore.
I'm not a PR yet, few years to go until then.
