Ok thanks. I'm an mechanical engineer and will be on some of the big projects in the country. (Don't want to give too much away for obvious reasons)

you should get it then, provided the application is done properly, and all the required documents are in place.

the only advice i can give is that you should not contact the case officer to ask for the progress, let them take their own time, give them the documents they ask and wait.

My company has done it all. All I did was fill in forms and send them back to them along with my trade papers, marriage cert, the wife and kids passport details and pictures. . HR has done it all. The company has been in HK for decades. To quote the head of HR "I have never not got a visa"

hahaha...good to know they never not got a visa... my British lawyer told me "We don't take "No" for an answer from immigration". i found that better :-)

Anyway, if its a company handling any major project as you mentioned then it will be done, nothing to worry about at all.

A welcome coffee will be from me once you arrive in HK.

Cheers mate. My daughter is 8. The Wife Thai. I've lived here 11 years. I'm a bit worried about schooling as my daughter does speak English fairly well, it it might not be strong enough for some of the schools?

Both of them can't wait to move. They won't come for at least three months after I arrive though.

So not sure where best place to stay will be. My company office is in new territories. But I don't mind waking up an hour earlier to get to work of the kid gets the right school.

NT is big,

But I will prefer a location which is either near the school or near my workplace

For schooling, Local stream is out for you as she won't speak Chinese, so either English Medium or International school,

all depends on what you plan for future, if you want to stay here and want her to pick some Chinese then try to get in the English medium school, otherwise International school.
