hi there.
I have the same problem: I am an Italian, currently living and working in shanghai. I would like to have an international health insurance policy for my boyfriend and for myself.
I have checked with Italian and English companies, but the premium is about 400/800 US$ a month!
I need it "just in case" anything happens and we have to go to the hospital (and I'd like an international one, don't really trust the public Chinese ones).
Any suggestions?

I've just relocated to Beijing from China. While my firm (a chinese one) provides medical insurance, just like many of you, I thought I should get insurance just to be sure. So I purchased a basic hosiptal-only plan for about US$300 a year. It comes with a SOS emergency number and repatriation benefits. If you guys are interested, send me an email and I can give you my friend's (an insurance broker & financial planner) contacts in HK.
