Had chickenpox as a teenager. Went swimming every day as the chlorine in the pool helped to dry the spots. Sure there were red spots after the crusts dropped off but, as I had not scratched them, I did not have any scarring.
The crust protects you from bacteria so, if you did not scratch the spots and open them up to let the bacteria in, you should be ok.

I think the not touching water is a Chinese folk tradition. I guess if there's bacteria in the water it could conceivably infect a wound, but do people in Shanghai generally consider their water so bad or infectious that they can't bathe in it? I had never heard of the idea of not getting chicken pox wet until I moved to China, but you are not the first person to be told this by a Chinese doctor, just as Chinese doctors also tell some women not to swim even though Western women find this great exercise when they are pregnant. A lot of people I've known have gotten relief from the chicken pox itching by filling an old sock with crushed raw oats, then putting that into the bath to infuse the bath with the oat milk (like a giant tea bag). In the USA this is even sold commercially under the brand name "Aveeno" bath. Of course, you don't want it to stay wet or oozy. If you can get calamine or caladryl lotion, that can help to dry it up and help stop itching, too. When my children had chicken pox, I was told that any infection could cause scars, and so my doctor advised me to put a touch of antibacterial ointment on any spot that showed any sign of infection. Of course, know also that you are highly contagious right now, and the chicken pox can cause a particularly nasty infection in males if they have no prior immunity. Make sure anyone you are around has either had the jab or the pox itself.
