Advice on Dental CLinics in Bangkok

I need to have approx 6 front teeth replaced with Implants. I have had a few quotes here in Hong Kong and the average price is around HK$130,000.

I was looking at the Dental Clinics in Bangkok and they do seem to have good facilities and Qualified Dentists.

I need to go to Bangkok in late October, so I was going to take the chance of going for consult with a Clinic while I am there to get a quote.

Does anyone living either in Bangkok or who has been to these clinics have any opinion.

Grateful for any info you may have.

Tim

Hi, I'm American and have had 2 implants done in Chicago in the early 2000's -- one is a front tooth (incisor) and other other is in the back.

Having had the procedures done I can tell you that it is not a one-stop procedure. When I had mine done, the implants were place and then they had to heal for at least 6 months before the crowns were placed. This involved periodic trips back to the dentist to make sure there was no complication. I cannot imagine not being near my dentist during this entire time b/c if a complication did arise, I would have wanted it handled immediately. I think you really need to consider that.

Don't get me wrong, implants are amazing and I have had 2 really good results, but i also needed a couple of skin grafts for the front tooth to make the gum look symetrical on both sides, so there are a lot of things that you might need if you are having 6 front implants placed.

If you go for it, and have a good, US trained dentist (specialists in implants) I think you'd find it is really worth your investment b/c the life on the implants is like 10 years or more. Make sure you get good crowns too!

I wrote in another thread that I have had experiences with US trained and non-US trained dentists over the past 15+ years and I would now only see a US trained dentist. Check the US consulate website for recommendations and to check credentials. A lot of HKG dentists will say they do implants b/c it's the hot thing now and it's not cheap, for sure, but I can tell you that you really want an experienced person placing your implants and not someone who has done only a couple.

Good luck!
