There are several podiatrists in Hong Kong who specialise in treating imgrowing toenails and I believe the treatment differs, depending on the condition its in.

Treatment for ingrown toenail ranges from the mundane to the advanced: In most cases, loose fitting shoes, avoiding trauma, changing socks frequently

and salt or soap soaking once or twice a day will do the trick. To prevent this re-occurring, you should ensure to cut the nails 'square' ensuring that

you can still see the corner of the nail.

Your family doctor may prescribe a short course of antibiotics in conjunction with the measures above.

If all else fails -a visit to the chiropodist or podiatrist should be considered- the GP or surgeon may actually treat the offending nail by surgery. There are many methods to treat an ingrowing toenail, some

transient, some result in permanent change in the nail. This is best discussed with your doctor.

Hopefully you can treat the problem early and prevent surgery.
