The government dental hospital in western performed my husbands operation. Very inexpensive and the dental school in Hong Kong is recognised internationally as one of the best.
So I would look into the government hospital if i were you.

Probably too late for the original poster, but I had a root canal on a molar about 2 years ago - HK$4,000 - with a brilliant local dentist in Wanchai. I think he qualified here but has done some further studies in the UK - had certificates on his wall and the bedside manner that I would expect/demand of a western practitioner. In fact he was more caring than any dentist that I've ever had in UK or Oz - he took the time to explain everything he was doing, looked me in the eye when he spoke to me (rare, in my experience, for a HK practitioner).

Anyone have any cost idea for removal of impacted wisdom tooth and recommendations of where to go. Dont know if I am keen to have it pulled under the local. In Aust its usually done under twilight but dont know if twilight is really necessary. Any experience??

prince phillip hospital is one of the best. to give you an example a crown is approx HK$325 but you need to remember that this is a teaching hospital and if at that time yr route canal is neither special or that they are not teaching this at the time, then you're out of luck.

my son was referred by a private dentist but i have heard that you need to join a que to register and take it from there. suggest you give them a call

Recently, I was told by a panel dentist that I had to remove all 4 wisdom teeth and have a root canal treatment on one of my molar tooth with the total cost coming to around HK$20k.
It was a bit too much so I went over to a private dentist, recommended by my friend, CJ Dental Care(www.fb.com/cjdentalcare). They told me it was just one wisdom which had to be removed and the root canal treatment with the total cost coming to around HK$5k. Around HK$3k for the root canal.
I am not in my final stage of the 4 week treatment and it was been as professional has you can hope. You do not feel a single thing and it was very quick. Highly recommended!
