I tried Duromine, you can buy it from some pharmacies without prescription here!

But would definately not recommend it. Its just speed! I had one and threw the rest away. Duromine is the strongest on the market I think. The 40mg slow release pills are quite intense. I had a come down when it wore off!!!

All appetite suppresants in modern western medicine work by effecting the central nervous system to speed up the metabolism. Its the best they can offer us. There is a new "wonder drug" coming out later this year by a French pharmacuticl company. Its supposed to help stop cravings for cigarettes and alchol too.

The best approach is still to take responsibility and control over your life rather than solve your problems by taking pills.

Otherwise you could try Orlistat (sold as Xenical). It breaks down 30% of the fat you eat. It also stops the absorbtion of all the good stuff too, so you need to take vitamins at the right time as well. It doesn't have any speed in it and doesn't do anything to your central nervous system.

You could try HGH too.. there's another thread about it on this site... If your doctor prescribes it to you (unlikely).

HGH will speed up your metabolism but it occurs naturally in your body, wont make you feel like you're on speed (i.e. with side effects of nervousness, tension, .... or feeling "weird")

You have to be careful with it and it requires injections :(

L-Carnatine helps you burn fat at the gym. Ive heard hydroxytea (which is like trademarked version of a recipe based on chinese herbal weight loss tea) is apparently effective. I cant vouch for either of these as I have not tried them or researched them much.

I have been trying warm lemon water with a touch of honey a few times a day and it sure helps me.

It's a cold fighter too.

there's a supplement called Hoodia which is supposed to be very effective. It's apparently what the aborigines use to go to the bush. Idon't know where it's available here though.

Should only resort to medication as a last resort. Look at the side effects for both duromine and also reductil.

Consult your doctor before resorting to medication.

I've tried appetite suppressants before with only mixed results and I didn't like the side effects. Recently, I consulted a hypnotherapist and she was able to help me curb my appetite without the problems medications often bring. And it sure feels great when you are finally in control of your own urges. You can find out from www.hypnosis-hk.com

Is hypnosis a very expensive treatment? How long does a session usually last and how much would it approximately cost?

Exercise more, drink water when you would normally snack and keep busy!

Hypnotherapists in Hong Kong charge between HK1500-2000 per each one-hour session. I didn't find that expensive because I was able to control my eating binges after two sessions. Surf Yahoo.com and you will find info on it. One site you might find useful is www.hypnosis-hk.com (that's the therapist I used.)

I used to work in the medical field many years ago in the US. At that time, some entrepreneurs were building and promoting Minor Surgery Centers with mixed reception from the consumers. This was not surprising because "There's no such thing as a minor surgery if it's going to be performed on me!"

Likewise, no problem is easy if it's my problem!

Instead of harming your body with chemicals. I think anyone who wants to loose weight should go within and ask themselves why are you so discontent with yourself, that you can't stop yourself from eating?. Work on making yourself happy and loving yourselves and the weight will fall of. It's all mental, lonliness, anger, jealousy, unforgiveness not being peaceful within is the cause of weight gain. And there are many laughing all the way to the bank because of this epidemic!!! Be happy, whatever you have to do just be happy!!

There are many things you can get from pharmacies without a prescription which you would otherwise be required to have in UK, US, AU, NZ and the like.

This is probably ok for medication you have been on and are familiar with the side effects or any precautions when used in relation to other medicaments.

The problem is, such pharmacies will often presume you are familiar with the medication you are requesting, and will not even go through the normal counselling a western pharmacist will give even for non-prescription meds.

This may or may not be a problem, depending upon what you are purchasing and what else you are on, and what you are allergic to.

If you don’t know what you are doing and it is not merely a prescription “re-fill”, you can be walking into a dangerous area.

Generally you should be able to get "non-junkie" meds, such as antibiotics. But potential psychotropics, even common ones such as benzo's probably won't be given to you.

Word of warning - CNS type appetite suppressants can be dangerous and can affect different people in different ways. There can be psychological effects which are unexpected and may not be rationalised correctly. Also, they should be used properly in conjunction with an appropriate weight reduction programme.

If you want the appetite suppressants, such as Reductil, just go to the doctor and make sure it is suitable for you, and so your expectations are managed – these things are not just for a one-off quick weigh loss jaunt. Remember, when you lose weight quickly and easily, in general it comes back on quickly and easily.

Theres no easy way to get leaner, throwing chemicals into your body means your body will have to adapt to something foreign. When you say you want to be lean? what kind of lean?, lean without gaining muscle?, lean gaining muscle?. Dieting can help in the short term to reach your weight but in the long run...you will be eating the same thing over and over daily to maintain that weight,,Do you want to eat like this for the rest of your life? OR even take pills to deplete the weight? Next thing , you will be a addictive druggy!!

Instead of looking for a magic pill - of which none exist - If you are hungry, why not simply replace the calorie dense refined junk food you are eating with a healthy low calorie apple or other whole fruit or vegetable?

Simply expecting a pill to do what you refuse to do in the form of modifying your eating habits is a waste of time and money.
