i'm in the US right now and am considering starting orthodontic treatment. there is a 50/50 chance i will be coming to china in september to teach english for the year. the course of my treatment will take approximately 12 months. i'm wondering if i should a) start now (an option i would prefer to pursue if at all possible, especially if i might not end up in china at all), b) do it in china or c) forget orthodontic treatment altogether until i get back.
My real question is thus, what kind of orthodontic treatment can i expect to find in beijing or shanghai and how difficult would it be to transfer treatment to a doctor there? do most expats see chinese or expat doctors? do you know of any orthodontists versed in invisalign?
thank you!

From experience, I think the crutial part of an orthondontic treatment is when they lay the train tracks. So if you start the treatment now, the basic alignment of your teeth will be sorted by September (hopefully, depending on your condition), and you will require monthly adjustments thereafter.
Some orthodontist charge for a full treatment package from start till end, and if you can avoid such agreements in the US, perhaps it may be feasible to continue the treament in China.
Chosing option C) might be the best bet, but it is always better to start orthodontic treatments earlier if you are an adult. The clock does tick and it does get more difficult for your teeth.
Good luck!
