I am trying to get pregnant, but had a UTI infection... and taking antibiotics and other medication. I told my dr. that I might be pregnant, she said the medication would not affect. Is this true? I have to wait another 10 days to find out whether I am pregnant.... I am always wondering how other women deal with the FIRST month of pregnancy. What do you do during this first month? Assume you are pregnant? Or not? It's SO frustrating.... I am afraid to drink coffee, afraid of heavy lifting, afraid to workout at the gym..... etc. Anyone has any advice? now I wish I am not going to be pregnant this month b/c of the medication. It's so stressful !

Hi Meiji, I'd experienced the same thing a year ago. I've been trying to get pregnant and when the baby was conceived I got UTI and was prescribed antibiotics. It was a class C antibiotics, means it should not be taken while pregnant. I took it around 2 weeks. And once found out I was pregnant, I became paranoid. I did lots of research in the internet and also read from books, normally if antibiotic were taken before the forming of vital organs, should be okay. Anyway, I was so worried, eventhough my obgyn told me not to worry, as most of the study was not tested in human and it was tested in animals with very high dosage. Still I am not convinced. I did the amnio, and the result was normal, yet I am still worry. It's only when I saw my baby about 4 months ago, I was relieved.
Anyway, my advice is always tell your GP that you might be pregnant, he can prescribe class A or B antibiotics that are safe during pregnancy. I hope this information helps.
Cheers.......

Thank you diana for sharing your story. I am confirmed pregnant now.... so kind of worried. I was right about my instinct.... but my doctor insists it was fine to take those antibiotics than risking infection affecting the fetus.
Thank you again. Congrats on your healthy baby!
