Hi
We have insurance from a major provider. There is a clause that says maternity is only covered if conception is after 10 months of the policy start.
We just conceived at 8 months. Ironically, we got this insurance for the maternity cover.
Do you know if there is anything we can do to get the insurance to cover this?
Both my husband and I have the same policy from the same company, with the same start date.
We are willing to 'back date' and renew earlier.
We are willing to renew now for another year (even though we don't need to renew until September).
Does anyone know about what we can do to allow the insurance to cover?
Thank you very much.

Allianz Worldwide (not the Asia plan)
I called them. They said they will cover all appointments after 10 months with a treatment guarantee, but not the ones before 10 months. This is good news to a degree - but is there anything we can do to get them to cover earlier?

Now that you have called them, they will have flagged your file. I'm afraid it appears unlikely that you will be able to do much about that. Since you conceived at 8 months we are talking about your first two months for non-coverage. Not ideal, but if they have agreed to cover you for all appointments after 10 months with the treatment guarantee, it seems you have the best you can expect. Good luck and have a healthy pregnancy.

The date of conception can be calculated from Ultrasounds in the first 3 months.Get your doctor to give you a note documenting the conception date. IF that is after the date that you took out the policy you have a case for appeal. Te companies say 10 months rather than 9 as some pregnancies go overdue.
