HOW TO GAIN WEIGHT

ORIGINAL POST
Posted by mambo 20 yrs ago
Recently i had this Body-Mass-Index(BMI)thingy and according to the results, i'm Underweight for my height(which is about 6f).

Question is, how do i gain weight. I have regular meals,fast-food once a while. Whether i eat french fries or apples for a month , my weight doesnt change not even an iota.

How do i gain weight without going to those over-priced Hong Kong gyms.

BMI on its own is valueless. What is your body fat% and your lean body mass? Is your basal metabolic rate normal? Do you have thyroid problems? Is this body shape normal for your family? (Genes ...)

Do you exercise regularly? Overpriced gyms - OK, but you can work out at home. If you want to gain muscle mass, and have problems doing so despite all efforts, you will need to resort to anabolic steroids - but get a dsoctor who understands how to use them properly.

Adler i have more than my fair share of good sleep. From late November until recently i was in China and i think i slept +/-10 hours a day due to boredom!!!!!!!!!!

Docboat, the machine said somethign about 0% fat i think, i'm not sure.I dont think i have thyroid problems(but you can expand on that). Well there is a few tallish people in my family. And yes i have been to the gym, not just in Hong Kong or recently. Steroids might do it, but where do i find a doc who knows about that stuff!

Steroids! Are you nuts? Think of the side effects - skinny guy with lovely breasts. If you want to build muscle, exercise. Are you eating enough protein? Check with a nutrutionist or your doctor.

Well Sunwaterandsky its not always the case, i understand that with the help of a trained or knowledgeable medical person the side effects can be reduced or eliminated!

Thats what i have heard.

As far as protein is concerned i think i take in quite a sizeable amount.

Where can i find a nutritionist in HK ???????????

BMI indicator is only a basic indicator and don't try steroids as their side effects are well documented. Taking in a sizeable amount of protein doesn't our body can make use of them, if you are taking a lot of animal protein, it may not be too healthy for the body.

I am taking a soya bean protein which has a PDCAAS of 1.

That can't be right 0% fat, even Olympic atheletes have at least 15% (well women anyway).

If you're getting enough exercise, sleep and a good diet and you feel good then you really shouldn't worry too much about weight. I'd stay away from the steroids - studied them in Sports and Toxicology at uni, if you do want to use them, def speak to a doctor, don't start ordering stuff online.

The damn thing said 0%, thats why i got a bit worried and ended up asking for advice.

Xinyidai, what is the name of this soya bean protein, or where can i find it???

Steroids seem to have a BAD-rep i will pause on that!

It's hard to provide a tailored meal plan without detailed personal information and dietary habit. For instance, it's not suitable for kids or teenagers to use the BMI. The BMI standard between the Asian and the Caucasians are different as well. But generally, try to add 2-3 snack times besides the 3 regular meals. The foods or beverages chosen should be energy-densed with high nurtition value.

In addition, it's not necessary to join gym for weight gaining / control. Find your own favorite exercise, hiking, jogging doesn't cost too much. It's also easy to do some weight lifting exercise at home too.

It's better to go for a dietary assessment to see if there is any improvement on the diets. Hope you find the above information useful.
