my husband has cheated on me and has gone to the doctor, he was told to wait two weeks before he can have an aids test then he will have a blood test and hopefully get the all clear. Should he have a follow up test in a few months to make sure? Or is a test two weeks later 100% conclusive?

There i a quick test for HIV in 2 weeks, but usually people are nervous and wait for 2nd result. Risks of HIV in HK are actually quite low, but best to take no chances.

If you become infected it takes the body a while to produce the antibody. This is true for ALL diseases. A test peformed shortly after the exposure is NOT conclusive and not totaly reassuring. The test should be repeated every few months. USE condoms for the next few months. Also he should be checked for GC and Chlamydia.

FOTH, raises a point that is very valuable. It is fashionable among the crowd that say 'Monogamy is the only answer" to say that the use of a condom is not 100% protective against HIV/AIDS. TRUE, few things in life are 100%, but they are VERY protective and their use is essential in casual encounters.
On the other hand FOTH, in spite of the fact that Chlamydia is endemic I think its diagnosis and treatment are whorthwhile, it does cause some rather nasty effects at times.

It can take up to three months before an HIV infection becomes apparent in blood tests. The best action is to do a baseline test, and to repeat the test after three months for the ‘all clear’.

Can you let us know, did he have sex with another man (a homosexual), or with a prostitute, or with intravenous drug user? If so, and if the sex was without a condom, then there is a higher risk he contacted AIDS (or for that matter other diseases such as certain type of hepatitis). You need to find these things out in order to better assess your risks.

Also, surveys have repeatedly shown that professionals are much more insistant on the use of condoms. For many amateurs a condom represents contraception and if they are on the pill they may feel that it is not necessary

Foth - it is beyond doubt that people who are homosexual, prostitutes, or IV drug users have a statistically higher chance of having AIDS then the rest of the population. Its sad, but its true. And hence, if you were to have unprotected sex with anyone in these categories, then as a conseqeunce your risk of catching AIDS would be higher than if you did so with someone not in these categories.
PS - can you clarify what you mean by "amatuer bar girls"?

Ok - thanks. I think "amateur bar girl" is an unusual term to describe a girl who is not a prostitute but who likes having fun in LKF. I'm sure many girls who like partying up in LKF would object to this description. But in any case, if you gave me the choice of having unprotected sex with either a LKF party girl, a homosexual, an IV drug user, or a prostitute, I know what I would choose!

BUT WHY offer yourself the opportunity of UNPROTECTED sex anyway.
And what is LKF?
