Actually, a good GP should do just fine for BP. You need a blood workup - cholesterol, homocysteine, CRP, renal function are a few examples. Possibly need ECG stress test. Family history needs to be examined for risk. You will not, of course, be a smoker - if you are, stop now. Your weight will be good, your body fat below 23%. If these have not been assessed or corrected, then a specialist is a waste of time. Psychologist can be seen if nervousness is causing the BP to rise.

Good to go for a blood test as suggested by docboat.
I had a friend who has a BP of 170/110 but managed to get down to 150/95 after a month of dietary fibre supplement. Though still high, the direction is clearly pointing south. He didn't take any other drugs or medication.

That's high, better be careful.
Apology, not able to give a suggestion on GP as I seldom visit one.

Don't worry. GP will normally give you some medication that will initially lower your BP.
He may suggest that you do all the tests but it can be quite costly. If you like to try something natural, drop me a message, that I can help as I am using it myself.

Elevated bloodpressure is not a disease, but may –in the longterm- lead to heart, brain and kidney disease.
If you have been found to have elevated bloodpressure, you should repeat the test a few times to confirm this. A useful way of doing so is taking your morning bloodpressure for a week. If indeed your bloodpressure is elevated, either a family physician or a cardiologist can start treatment.
A psychologist may well be helpful in additional stress management.
Don’t forget that exercise, healthy food and living, minding your bodyweight, all helps the bloodpressure
