Has anyone had this done in Hong Kong? Does anyone have any information where you can have it done? How much it costs? Whether it is dangerous or not?

Dr. Iain MacRobert introduced this into HK. He has information about the procedure, safety etc. Very commonly done these days.

I did this about 5 years ago. I recommend Dr. Walter Li at the HK Sanitorium in Happy Valley. It's cheaper than when I did it. I think around $15,000.

Do you now have perfect eyesight, without having to wear glasses or lenses? Does the procedure hurt? Are there any lasting after effects?

Does this mean no glasses for your entire life? or does it only last for a few years? There;s no side effects later on in life with the eyes ?

My optometrist told me that if you need reading glasses, it is not good to do it if you want to get rid of the glasses because you can only correct either the dist. vision or the near vision. Also, if your prescription keep increasing, don't do it because you may need glasses when your prescription increase again.
He also told me that the rate of the side effect is very low. However, if there is side effect, it may affect your vision permanently.

I got mine done at the Sanitorium about 6 years ago by John Chang, and it was one of the best things I ever did. Price was about HK$45K at the time but I think it's a lot cheaper these days. No more glasses and I think my eye sight is now pretty much 20/20. As far as I know it's permanent, but if you get long sighted in the future as you age I don't think Lasik will prevent that.

lost in qz,
I just had Lasik done recently at the Hong Kong Sanatorium.
Dr. Li is expensive: around 30,000HKD (both eyes, with Intralase flap cutting, opposed to blade flap cutting and incl. the doctor's surgery fee, but not the post-operation follow up fee). He is however the head of the HKSH and I believe one of the best doctor's for LASIK around. The other doctors working with him seem to be experienced, too, and cost around 5,000HKD less incl. the post surgical routine follow up visits.
There still isn't a day I wake up and think, wow! I can see! My eyesight has been corrected to 20/20 vision and better, so I am more than happy with the results.

Hi Bluesky...if your vision is changing still, you may want to checkout an alternative to Lasik.
This is Ortho Keratology, & if you do a search on google there is an Ortho K clinic in HK.

I had my eyes lasered in July by Dr David Chan at Opalvision, 2/f Jardine House. I paid 23K which includes 7 checkups over 2 years and free treatment if anything needs doing to do with the laser treatment. You can also pay over 2 years interest free. I was very impressed with the whole place. It hurt having the left eye done more than the right and the smell of burning is a bit strange, but no after pain at all. My vision is now 20/10 and 20/15 so better than normal. I wish I'd had it done years ago. He did say I may need reading glasses in a few years because of my age, apparently the eye often starts changing shape in your 40's which is why so many older people need reading glasses and as yet they can't correct that.
