FOTH is right - I also suggest you get a thorough checkup - blood tests etc. If nothing else it will assure you that nothing's fundamentally wrong!

I agree. This type of symptom is rarely caused by a medical problem. A CBC to check for anemia, A blood sugar test to test for diabetes and a thyroid test should be performed. Are you feeling, sad, unhappy, depressed, bored with life any attitudianl things like this can cause this inertia.

Hi, I had this when I was having a rare side effect to Warfarin blood thinners. It was so bad, I ended up with slipped disk, curved spine etc. Physiotheraphy sorted it for me.

Have it now again, but this time it is emotional exhaustion; I deal with stuff by sleeping it off and these few days I am wrecked. Also, I am leaving HK so my mind is busy/tired.

A GP probably won't be able to help. Write down all your sympthoms, go on the internet to do some reseach, get to know yourself better and how to cope with stress etc/how medicines might affect you...and if need be go to a specialist.

A GP is a specialist. A GP is probably the best first stop. Indiscriminate (as typically suggested by Americans) use of specialists according to perceived problems is one good way of confusing the situation.

Well, my cut is COMPLETELY diferent. Of course, check out the health angle. But I have the same problem and it has nothing to do with diet or medical condition. It has everything to do with the energy required to adjust to an environment of crowds, when one comes from a less populated region. Similarly, it takes energy to be understood when your language is not the norm. And, since the law on live out Amahs changed, and I don't have room or desire for a live-n and have had n luck getting an English speaking Chiniese Amah, every spare moment is filled with chores...no R&R. Working hours are long, so dinner is a 9:30 or later thing...and that means a change in sleeping habits...yet the day still starts around 6:00 a.m. Maybe, just maybe...you're tired for good reason.

Just a thought, but I used to get enough sleep but still wake up very tired, as if I did not get any rest. I also used to go to the gym and come out feeling more exhausted and tired than when I went in. This was all contrary to what sleep and working out was supposed to do, but I was 'healthy', in the sense that I was not with any particular ailment. Anyway, I decided to go to a Chinese herbalist on a friend's recommendation. He prescribed medicine for me to drink, which I did for over a period of a few weeks. (I went three times and every time, he gave me the same thing to drink.) Anyway, after the stuff, it felt like a weight was lifted off of my entire body. My workouts are what they used to be and my sleep back to normal. I was 'sup yeet' or wet-hot and he had to get my body back in balance. It worked for me; I hope this helps.

Make sure that you are not dehydrated.

Persistent fatigue is a common symptom of chronic dehydration. I noticed that when I was dehydrated, no amount of sleep would help me overcome my fatigue. Try avoiding all caffeinated drinks (like tea) which as act diuretics and drink Gatorade for a few days and see if that helps.

You most porbaply react to the food you eat and got the allergic symptoms as well.

I would suggest you to look into NAET treatment to help you with the fatigue problem.

Check out this web site

www.naet.com.hk

Dr Charity Chu in Hong Kong will be able to help you .

She could be reached at 852-28249112

I think you may want to have a consultation with a TCM doctor. I have a good recommendation. You can see Dr. Zhu in CausewayBay, or Dr. Poon in Central. You may call 28818267 for appointment. The web site is www.qcmchk.com

I suggest you look at two culprits, either candida (canaisis)or food allergies. It could be both since these two go hand in hand.Candida can be tested as well as food allergies. I had both to an extreme for 18 yaers. Horapito is best for candida, but you will need to change your diet to no sugar and starches since it is a yeast infection internally. Both thses conditions can be dangerous if not treated for a long time and a damaged immune system can reult leaving with HIV like symtoms.

I had this recently, and found that I was not processing glucose properly (other symptoms for me included moodiness, excessive tiredness, weight gain, and hormonal imbalance). I am now on Glucophage and am a changed woman! Google glucophage and type II diabetes and see if this is you. Good luck.

It could be anything. See a doctor as nobody on this thread has any idea about what is wrong with you or what will fix your problem, perceived or otherwise - and I doubt whether a doctor would attempt to give you a qualified opinion without seeing you.

I have this problem also - was diagnosed with anemia - not enough red blood cells...I had been thinking it was the int'l move, but its the anemia that is causing me to be exhausted - female related problem - I'd suggest going to a doctor and checking everything out before anything else is tried.

Dear All,

Your replies are a mirror image of what my husband and I have been through in the past two years. Same old problem of tiredness even though we felt we were eating well. Spent a bomb on checkups, nothing came out of it.

And then, after a lot of deliberation took the decision to take antioxidants from a reputed and patented Company. Our Life has changed over the past one year and we are full of energy.

Cheers!!!

Okay, I see 2 doctors respond, they got it right. Anemia, thyroid problems, Diabetes, depression. On the outside EBV or chronic fatigue syndrome maybem; though in my opinion these are probably bogus too.

Things that I am SURE is bogus:

Acidosis

Chronic dehyration

lack of Antioxidants

And the most bogus of all, mold/food allergies along with hypoglycemia.

If you think you got these, a psychiatrist may be more helpful.

Presently just got from a night of drinking so I feel particularly obnoxious. I will probably regret this post when I sober up. Not that it isn't accurate...but very undiplomatic.

They don't call me Doctor House at work for nothing.

Sorry to double post but I can't help myself. Did not address the specialist thing.

Technically, a GP is not a specialist, a Family Practice physician IS. At least that's how it is in the US. I agree, DON'T see a "specialist", worse thing you could do. See a GP, Family Practice, Internist all are good choices.

If someone calls themself a "fatigue" (or a variation of the idea), RUN AWAY. He/she is a quack. Our version of the ambulance chaser. Wait, maybe not. The comparison would be insulting to the ambulance chaser.

Have never written in to one of these, but thought might be able to help. If you are a smoker, you may be suffering from cumulative effects of Carbon Monoxide poisoning, where your body reacts by producing more red blood cells, and your blood gets too 'thick.' You need to keep well hydrated, but don't drink too much or you will flush away nutrients(drink little and often). Also eat little and often instead of large meals, and cut down on drinking until symptoms disappear. Low intensity outdoor exercise(walking), cutting down on smoking, drinking and eating, drink green tea, tomato juice and I hope you will be fine soon (altho just noticed thread started 115 days ago, so hope you are fine by now anyway!!!)

You should have a sleep function test to check for sleep apnea. Do you snore a lot? Wake up gasping sometimes? I have sleep apnea, and it causes tiredness during the day when untreated

Are you a vegetarian? It might be a lack of B12. If you are a veggie get checked cos there is a tentative link between lack of B12 and Alzhiemers. In short see a Doctor

In Manila I find that this happens due to the high level of polution and the fact that one tends to overeat to compensate for stress or in my case denying the fact that there are SO many better places to be than here.

constantly feeling tired. why?

In our research, this uncomfortable sign may be caused by cortical overexciting ( such as stress and low gas pressure), thus Human growth hormone discharged from pituitary gland will decrease during some phases. HG plays a important role in releasing tiredness.
