High testosterone causes baldness. Testosterone is what makes a man a man. Don't fool with his manhood, he will not thank you for it.

Yours is the age old question, is there anything that can stop baldness or restore hair growth.

There are very few remedies. I believe propecia is one of the most effective. Rogaine supposedly has results too.

But no matter what you will have to use medication, accupuncture and "miracle cures" are useless, if they werent then thered be no bald people.

Suggest you discuss with medical experts the effect of using Propecia because thats probably the only feasible way to prevent your sons baldness

Don't get neurotic and pass that neurosis onto your son. If there's nothing inherently wrong with him, and it's nothing other than genes and testerone, I would suggest you learn to accept it. I would suggest also that he gets a "buzz cut", a cut close to the bone, which is what I did when my hair started falling out rapidly at the age of around 19, when in uni and under a lot of stress, and when long hair was the fashion. My hair continued to thin for decades but lasted sufficient throughout the "peac*ck years', when preening and appearance seemed so important.

A buzz cut is still reasonably trendy and, if the worst comes to the worst, makes the advancing pattern thinning less noticeable. You can cut it every day yourself, making it cheap and easy to manage. He should avoid propecia and the like, which can cause erectile dysfunction and the psychological problems that that can create.

Remember, there are far worse things that can happen to your son than premature baldness. It's not the end of the world. There are a lot of so-called specialists out there willing to prey on your fears and worries who will happily take your money from you without offering any guarantee and will spin you the line that they can slow down the process.

hair thinning, i have to agree with runner as well. better try and help your son come to grips with his reality and have a buzz cut, than constantly try to find remedies, that may or may not work, and possibly just make him more upset. remember, what's good for one person may not work for another, and for all these people who have had excellent results with propecia, it is not a guarantee your son will be one of them.

i forgot to mention that i had an epidose of alopecia (hair thinning on one spot) when i was in college and very stressed over my thesis and boyfriend issues. my mother made me rub aloe vera onto my hair at the roots every night. i used the plant itself and would cut the leaf in the middle and apply the sticky gel inside. it smells a bit plus i had to put a towel on my pillow but it seemed to work as the hair grew back. i had a bald spot toward the front of my head. imagine the stress it caused me because as a teenage girl, a buzz cut was not exactly an option! at least, not to me.
