To get a residence visa I was told I have to have a medical exam? what does that entail? what documents or reports should I bring with me.

very simple really
just the usual body check up
no need to bring any documents, they will check you anyways. As far as i can remember, you have to go to a clinic (which is much nicer now than it was before) and do the following:
X ray
Blood Test
Stomach Ultrasound
Eye Test
Physical Check up
