We have been told that our baby needs to have a cyst removed surgically, and want to get a second opinion before going ahead with this. Could anyone recommend a paediatric surgeon?

Get in touch with Dr Ellis Hon at Prince of Wales. Not sure whether he does surgery but he's a good doctor and will give sound advice.

I don't know the details, but in general, you don't need a pediatric surgeon. I assume that it will be done under local anesthesia. If it is to be done under general anesthesia, what you need is a pediatric anesthesiologist or a someone who can manage a pediatric airway such as a pediatric intensivist or a neoantologist.

Barking up the wrong tree.

Queen Mary is the best hospital and peadiatric surgeons for me.I give birth last May 27,unfortunatly my baby wasnt that healthy at all.She was diagnosed for NEOROBLASTOMA Tumour on her Adrenal part,it was so depressing. The operation was done when she was exactly one week old.It was horrible experience for a parents like us.In Queen Mary hospital Doctors and Nurses are very nice though it is a public hospital but thier service is very good.

Hi dp

I can personally recommend Dr Wong King Chee. He is a specialist in Paediatric surgery. He removed a cyst from my son's armpit when my son was 10mths old.

His practice is located at Room 606, Capitol Centre, 5-19 Jardine's Bazaar, Causeway Bay, HK.

His phone no. is 2895 3811.

I have also heard positive things about Dr David Man, who also specialises in Paediatric surgery. He is located at Room 1009, Lane Crawford Building, 70 Queens Rd Central.

sydexpat, miming and turtle1,

many thanks for the recommendations on doctors and hospitals, which I will follow up on. miming, I hope your baby has recovered from what sounds like a very serious condition. Your little one is just 3 days older than ours and I really feel for you having had such a traumatic post-birth experience. Hope all is ok now.
