I am going to be moving to China in two weeks and worry about eating raw veggies over there. Can you buy Grapefruit Seed Extract in Panyu area or should I bring it from the States.

I live in GZ and I've never heard of Grapefruit Seed Extract. Many people here purchase a small green bottle of special detergent (next to the dishwashing detergents in the supermarkets) that they soak produce in, it apparently contains something to kill germs. I don't bother to use it. I wash produce very well, rinse it in bottled water, peel most fruit and veggies. The store "Park N Shop" has some "organic" produce (but not sure what that label means here). Sometimes I add a few drops of chlorine bleach to water and soak veggies, but usually not. If making salad, I only use beautifully clean lettuce to start with, wash well, then rinse at least three times with last two rinses in bottled water. It's not just germs, but also pesticides that you have to worry about. Peeling is better, and also cooking breaks down some of the bad chemicals.
