Pregnancy advice

My husband and I are about to move to Suzhou. We hope to have a baby in the next year or two and it will no doubt be whilst we are in China. I was reading a thread about costs exceeding HKD100,000 and there abouts. Does anyone know if the costs are similar in Suzhou? If I have a health insurance policy that covers maternity 100% are there any nasty surprises cost wise? Does anyone have health insurance provider tips? Any other tips on having a baby in China? Doctor recommendations in Suzhou or Shanghai?

Kind Regards,

Tracey

I am with the Shanghai United Family Hospital in Shanghai. I am from Canada and was the Chief of the Maternity unit in Bj for 7 years before coming here. There is no real international standard Ob unit in Suzhou, the good news is that we are on the west side of Shanghai and are about an hours drive away.We have very comfortable birthing suites, excellent Obstericians, Pediatricians, anesthesiologists and other services to back us up.

Come and visit us we are on Xian Xia Lu very close to the old airport. I would be happy to show you around and answer all your questions.

A good medical insurance policy with an ethical provider will cover you very well.
