Hi, went for a massge a few days ago, and two days later, started to have a very stiff neck/head and heavy eyes (feel like a strain to keep open). The massage was quite hard, especially around the spine. Vision a bit blurry too since...anyone else have the same experience?? Can the masseuse(sp) press the wrong nerve to muck one up like this?? Considering going to get my eyesight checked anyway.

Generally the way that the nervous system works is that an insult to a nerve will cause a problem in the direction away from the brain, a broken neck gives paralysis BELOW the neck. I think that it unlikely fora nerve damaged at massage to have an ascending effect.
Stiff neck and blurry vision sounds like a problem inside your skull. I recommend a visit to a Doctor.

could this also be a psychosomatic thing? Been known to happen to me before, and have just been through some very stressful times...much better since my post anyway. Thanks

I think Dr. Moreton is absolutely right. Better safe than sorry, I agree get it checked out with a CT scan (or whatever).

your post is 7 days ago, you either are alright now, or I hope you have gone to a doctor if the symptoms persisted. but I thought I would write about what might be a possiblity as I have had a similar experience, but not to the extreme of having to STRAIN my eyes to keep them open.
When one has flu virus inside, but not yet having full blown symptoms.... almost flu stage (you know what I mean)..... then one gets a massage, it has been said that it will make you feel WORSE after a massage b/c your bones and everything else will ache even more after a massage. I tried it once, knew I was getting a flu soon..... but I kept my appointment for the massage, about 2 days later, the aches and headaches were undescribably painful, worse than any normal flu I have ever had. Hope you are ok now.

It's not a case inducing from massage. As Dr Moreton said, massage around spine range couldnt lead to optic nerve damage or some else. For my personal opinion as a doctor, its a kind of temporary occurance under heavy stress and fatigue, its also kind of something connecting with personal character. You also mentioned it happened before, and got better when you felt relaxing. If im not offensive, maybe you are a little easy to be anxiety for things. So try to take it easy and relax. If things going on, ud better go to check in hospital at NS part .

got my eyes checked, all ok thankfully, bloodwork part I seems ok, waiting on Part II, so I guess its the anxiety! Hope it goes away soon, though the blurry vision is all gone, just have a stiff jaw left! Thanks everyone
