Hi, just got my period today again after 4 months (I have PCOS, and 3-4 months in between each period is fairly normal, only taking vitamins, no other medication)...just want to know when will I ovulate and which is the date best for conceiving a much wanted second child? First one took nearly 2 years of trying. Thanks

From personal experience, I encourage you to be proactive to achieve the goals you desire. Fertility tends to drop with age, and even with intervention things don't always happen on a perfect schedule. There's an 11 year gap between my 2nd and 3rd child, whom we got only with help from an infertility specialist. Even though we "started over" and it's almost like having two families because of the age differences, I'm always 100% thankful to the infertility doctor who helped us, and I wouldn't want to imagine life without this wonderful blessing. But, you asked a specific question about how to know when you ovulate. You can get some insight by charting basal body temperature. I did a google search for ("basal body temperature" fertility) and came up with several web sites selling some computer software. But you don't need software, just a thermometer and a calendar. Here is one explanatory page: http://www.storknet.com/cubbies/preconception/bbt.htm It's extremely important to take your temperature as soon as you wake up, before you move in the morning, so you have to sleep with the thermometer within reaching distance of your bed. If you start charting temperature now, take the chart to your infertility specialist for your first appointment. The info could be helpful even at your first evaluation.
