ADD- Adderall

I am going to Shanghai to work for 4 months. My doctor agreed to give me a 4 month prescription of adderall. Is there going to be a problem if I bring this prescription overseas? I know the doctor here in the US doesn't have any say in China but if someone could just give me a little advise. If it's possible I would rather not switch my presciption with the Doctor.

It is unlikely that a prescription written in one country will be filled in another due to differing FDA type regulations (...or whatever the country's Drug regulator is called). Being China though, it's probable you'll be able to walk into a doctor's office and ask for pretty much anything, particularly that type of amphetamine drug.

What about if I brought 4 months of adderall overseas, would I end up in the electric chair?

NO, whereas it is difficult or nearly impossible for clinics to import non-approved drugs for sale, for individual use it is not challenged

It's fine as long as you have a letter from your physician stating that it is prescribed and what it is for. It's up to the country you're entering as to whether they'll let it through. They won't even notice so just make sure you have the letter and it shoulod be fine. If you have 4 months worth, I'd pack them all in different bags as a big stash of medication can look bad on the xray machine.

Across-border prescriptions are all considered not valid legally so your prescription of adderall is not valid if your try to get it filled in China. You need to bring them in yourself or contact your physician in China for an alternative available in China.

We carried in a year's supply of most of our prescription meds when we moved to China. Later found out that was unnecessary, but still even with such a quantity (a year's supply of everything for 5 family members) had no problem coming through customs. Make sure the prescriptions are in the original prescription bottles with the prescription labels attached, so there's no question about authenticity / validity of the prescription. We also hand carried complete set of medical records for each family member and complete duplicate set of written prescriptions (including eye glass / contacts). For us, the most important thing in hindsight was to supply new doctors with accurate medical records. Don't know about adderol in particular, but in general have had no problem getting most meds here. Some European, Australian and Chinese remedies even better than what had in USA.
